Preview Vampire The Masquerade Blood Hunt: A Battle Royale Of Size Against The Competition? Posted on 6/10/2021 at 10:00 p.m. The Battle Royale in the universe of Vampire The Masquerade, announced last November, reveals its title and was raised during a two-hour game session. The opportunity for us to grasp the basics of this new title that seeks to find a place for itself in the ruthless universe of BR. We got to play a pre-alpha version of the game on PC, Vampire The Masquerade: Blood Hunt, with fellow journalists and developers for two hours. This is the name of the Battle Royale, which was developed by Sharkmob, a studio consisting of veterans from Massive Entertainment (Tom Clancy’s The Division) and IO Interactive (Hitman). For their first game, they had the right to develop a title in the world of Vampire: The Masquerade, a license well known to RPG enthusiasts and which was entitled to some video game versions Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines, Vampire: The Masquerade – Swan song …). But this time around, instead of major solo RPG-esque adventures, Sharkmob has opted for an extremely competitive genre: the free Battle Royale in TPS. Before starting a game, you must first customize your character and then choose one of the six classes available: Brute, Vandal, Saboteur, Ranger, Mermaid and Muse. If the first two are for hand-to-hand combat, the other two play more on discretion, while the last two are for support and care. Each of these archetypes has two unique active abilities and one passive. Once these decisions have been made, we are in the Elysium, a kind of hub in which various NPCs with currently unknown roles are brought together. After you have familiarized yourself with the controls, it is time to start a game. In general, we find the characteristic elements of this genre codified as follows: the goal is to be the last alive against about forty players as the game progresses Ahead. Except this time not a drop from the air. Here the players select their spawn points directly and can then explore the map freely. As for the environment, the parts of Vampire The Masquerade: Blood Hunt take place in a dense urban setting since it is the city of Prague. With its dark alleys, spacious avenues and its church transformed into a nightclub, special attention has been paid to the decoration in order to really give the impression of being in the vampire universe: The Masquerade. On the travel side, we’re in a similar approach to Hyper Scape, but more extensive. Indeed, if we can move around on the rooftops, the great feature of the title is that it is possible to climb any building without restriction. Obviously, with the game currently in pre-alpha, we had some issues with this system, but it’s still an interesting feature that offers plenty of opportunities for shootouts. In addition, the latter offer quite satisfying sensations, especially with melee weapons. On your forays through the streets of Prague you will not only meet other vampire players, but also human NPCs. It is possible to devour them along the way to restore your life, but be careful not to be seen by other citizens. If so, the vampire pact (the masquerade) will be broken and you will be targeted with a blood sign. This means that all players can know where you are on the minimap for a short time. You will suffer the same penalty if you shoot someone instead of sucking blood. To get equipment, each player has a special view that highlights the locations that are likely to contain loot, as well as the entities, heavily armed elite troops that also drop weapons. However, this sight is also used to recognize people who have a special aura. By devouring them, it is thus possible to restore a specific buff for each color (increased damage, reduced skill recovery time, etc.). It is therefore interesting to spot them quickly in order to have a clear advantage over your opponents. If you can only have a limited number of buffs at the start of the game, it is possible to increase the number of slots available by devouring other players after you knock them down. Additionally, Vampire The Masquerade: Blood Hunt’s knockout system also offers some subtleties compared to other BRs. After enough damage has been dealt to an enemy, that enemy is knocked down. If he plays as a team, his teammates have the opportunity to revive him. But if you don’t finish it within 45 seconds, it’ll be back on its feet automatically. As an aside, we will note that the game’s time to kill is relatively long and that it is necessary to shoot a lot of balls before killing an opponent. The title is part of this Battle Royale series, which does not make the knockdown doom, but rather gives the players a second chance. Our impressions Thanks to its different game systems, Vampire The Masquerade: Blood Hunt promises to be a more classic battle royale, but with some originalities to stand out from the crowd. Great freedom of movement, atmosphere especially for vampires: The Masquerade, little punishment … All these elements together make it a very pleasant experience for short game sessions (20-25 minutes for one game). However, I’m not sure if all these few subtleties are enough at the moment to fight for a place in the highly competitive world of the BRs. Journalist June 10, 2021 at 10:00 p.m.
