News Business Discord and Microsoft: The End of Buyout Negotiations? Posted on April 20, 2021 at 9:33 p.m. On March 23, Bloomberg and VentureBeat announced that Microsoft, according to their sources, has been thoroughly investigating the possibility of buying Discord, which is for sale. Several companies took an interest in Discord, but Microsoft seemed to be sticking the line. Discord, valued at around $ 7 billion, was apparently looking for a buyer who could take care of its 140 million monthly active users. According to Bloomberg, Microsoft’s position made perfect sense as the company focused on software and services for the video game industry. Unfortunately, the Wall Street Journal reports that Discord has ended talks with the Redmond company. Some sources felt that now is not the time as Discord is doing well and enjoying its independence for the time being. Microsoft put at least $ 10 billion on the table, other sources said, but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement. However, trading can resume later. In other words, the timing was bad, but the door is not permanently closed. When Discord is looking for funding, it’s not for free. It is therefore very likely that we will have news on this subject in the coming months.
