News culture Smooth McGroove, the Capella singer, is back with New Super Mario Bros. Posted on 07/04/2021 at 12:39, updated on 07/04/2021 at 12:40 It has been almost two years since singer Smooth McGroove put an end to his capella covers of the most iconic music in the video game world. But today, after a long hiatus, the Oklahoma City-born musician is back on YouTube with a brand new hit. Just two weeks ago, Smooth McGroove, real name Max Gleason, admitted on YouTube players and music lovers around the world that he had taken a long hiatus to concentrate fully on his condition. Good news, today the singer feels much better and uses this great moment to celebrate it in music. In fact, the musician, who has already released a total of ten albums, is celebrating his comeback with a cover of the Overworld theme (see below) of New Super Mario Bros., Nintendo’s cult game, which was first released on DS in 2006. I admit it. I completely missed the Nintendo DS on launch. I was super PC focused at the time and my only exposure to the handheld was from a roommate and a couple of kids my mom sometimes babysat. Fast forward … About two months ago I was kind of insane doing all the DS games that I have never played. (New Super Mario Bros.) is one of the games I picked and it’s just awesome! A classic with an incredible soundtrack in honor of Mario! Hope everyone who asked about this song will enjoy it and I have to say … it’s great to come back and make music!
